We run consistent routes across South Hadley, Granby, Chicopee, Belchertown, Holyoke, Florence, Northampton, Easthampton, Hadley and 9 more towns across the Pioneer Valley. That means fast scheduling, local knowledge, and crews who already know the area's soil, weather and quirks.
Get My Free QuoteSpring through late fall applications timed to grass growth stages. Includes pre-emergent weed control and broadleaf spot treatments.
We pull 3-inch plugs to relieve compaction, improve drainage, and let oxygen to the roots. Best done late summer to early fall.
Direct seed-to-soil contact via slit cuts. Far higher germination than broadcast seeding — fills in thin and bare areas fast.
Quarter-inch layer of screened compost over the whole lawn. Feeds microbes, improves soil structure, thickens turf.
Most Western MA soil runs acidic. Proper pH lets your fertilizer actually work. We pH-test and correct.
Targeted grub preventive in late spring. One application usually carries the whole season.
Real BML crews on real Western MA properties.

We adjust applications based on weather and growth, not a corporate schedule. Early spring warm-up? We're there. Cold snap? We hold.
Optional soil testing shows exactly what your lawn needs. No overfeeding, no waste.
Prefer organic? We have programs built on corn gluten, compost teas, and naturally-sourced nitrogen.
Straight answers to the questions we hear most from Western Mass homeowners.
Our 6-step season program typically runs $350-$650 per year for a standard residential lot (5,000-10,000 sq ft of lawn). Larger yards scale up. Program includes pre-emergent weed control, spot broadleaf treatments, and three feedings at the right growth stages. First visit includes free lawn evaluation.
Our program starts with a pre-emergent and light feed in early April, followed by spring, early summer, late summer, and fall applications. The timing matters more than the product — feeding grass at the wrong stage wastes money and can actually hurt the lawn.
Granular is slow-release — steady feeding over weeks. Liquid is fast-acting but shorter-lived. We use both strategically: granular for the base feeding, liquid for weed control and spot treatments. Most pro programs rotate between them.
For compacted lawns or heavily-used yards (kids, pets, foot traffic), yes — every 1-2 years. Lighter-use lawns can stretch to every 2-3 years. Best timing is late August through mid-October in Western Mass when cool-season grasses recover fastest.
Slice seeding uses a machine that cuts narrow furrows and drops seed directly into soil contact. Germination rates run 70-90% versus 20-40% for broadcast. We use it for lawn renovation and thin-spot repair — especially effective paired with aeration.
Yes. Once product is watered in and dry (typically 4-6 hours after application), it's safe. We always leave a detailed service card with timing. Pet-specific products available on request — just ask.
Yes. Organic programs use corn gluten meal for pre-emergent, compost-tea based feedings, and naturally-sourced nitrogen. Results take longer to show (2-3 seasons for a full transition) but the soil ends up healthier and more drought-resistant.
Fertilizer alone won't stop weeds. Our program includes pre-emergent in early spring (stops crabgrass before it germinates) and broadleaf post-emergent spot treatments through the season. Thick grass is the best long-term weed defense.
